So, with just a couple of weeks to go how are things shaping up for this year’s Hotwired?
Everything’s going great. We’re working hard to make it the best Hotwired yet!
In just four years Hotwired has become one of the major international fetish events, attracting a global fetish crowd… Why do you think that is?
It’s a really fun party. Plus we have hot guys, a strict dress code, friendly atmosphere and a venue that’s unique in London.
Many people would think you’re bonkers to hold an event in a car park! Why did you decide to use the one at Ewer Street?
It’s the best industrial space in London and the closest we can get to a Berlin-style party in this city. We love our car park!
What challenges do you come up against when transforming a raw industrial space like that into a fantasy fetish club environment?
It really is a car park until Friday evening. Then on Saturday morning we have to bring in power, lights, sound, water, bars, heating, play area, absolutely everything! And we have to have everything out again by midday Sunday.
Over the years, we’ve seen abandoned cars, a 2-berth caravan, and an inflatable dark room at Hotwired… Can you give us any clues as to what we can expect this year?
We have a great new space we’re opening up but we always have a couple of new surprises.
Hotwired has an ultra strict dress code of leather and rubber only. What fashion advice would you give to someone whose only leather and rubber would amount to shoes, belts and welly boots?
Borrow some gear! Or the simplest/cheapest thing is to get some rubber shorts or a leather jock. It’s a leather/rubber party. We like to be welcoming but we enforce the dress code. That’s what makes Hotwired special.
If you could have anyone attend Hotwired, dressed head to toe in leather or rubber, who would it be and why?
Ryan Gosling. And maybe Tom Daley in chaps?
Can you tell us about any porn stars attending?
Loads. But they’re coming in a personal capacity to have fun. They’re not working.
What makes Hotwired stand out from other fetish events?
We try really hard to make it the biggest and best leather party in London.
