QXMEN: You recently took a well-deserved break between Mastery’s first birthday bash in January and the Back With A Vengeance party at the end of May… What have you been up to?
Brew Hunter: I took some time out and travelled abroad to some far-flung places. It was a great opportunity to meet up with some astoundingly horny Leather/Fetish guys around the world, and I found out that what Mastery represents – a lust-fuelled return to the masculine glory days that were illustrated by Tom Of Finland – is something that guys worldwide are 100% interested in and really hungry for!
Come to think of it, following Mastery’s meteoric rise to become one of the hottest and most well-respected parties on the gay fetish calendar attracting the hottest and hardest Leather and Rubber Men and their bois from the UK, Europe and the States, in just one year, it’s no wonder you needed a couple of months off to completely recharge the batteries!
Thanks for the compliment. It’s been an awesome ride, but it’s all thanks to the incredible amount of guys who have made the effort to come along to the events. As you know, Mastery recreates the images and power of the early days of the classic leather scene – the Rules, Respect, Dominance, Discipline, S/Moke, SubMission and Hard Play. I’m so f**king proud that the lifestyle I lead 24/7 can welcome those handsome Leather/Rubber men to an evening that makes their fantasies a total and complete reality in 2015!
So, why do you think Mastery’s been so successful?
We’ve gone back to the basics of what hard-playing Leather Men really want. We have the world’s STRICTEST dress code – Leather/Rubber ONLY! Also, our venue, The Backstreet, is London’s – if not the world’s – longest-running, authentic Leather/Rubber club – with the capital’s horniest smoke area filled with Cigar Masters and Daddies – it is now London’s ultimate Men-Only Fetish club.
What’s been your highlight of the past year?
The highlight has definitely been the feedback from the men and bois who are now hard-and-fast regulars. Word-of-mouth has spread like wildfire:
“A huge success … This is exactly the sort of event London has been crying out for for ages. Huge respect and thanks.”… “An event we have all wanted for years!” … “Count me in! I’m a Mastery convert!”

We heard that May’s Back With a Vengeance party was the busiest Mastery to date, and that the events are attracting more and more XXX hardcore Leather and Rubber men! Is this true?
Abso-f**kin-lutely! Come and see for yourself – the numbers just keep on growing, and I’m proud that Mastery is also encouraging and exciting younger guys who want to enter and explore the experience to the MAXX! On 4th July you’re celebrating USA Independence Day with Mastery Rawhide: Leather & Levi… What’s that all about?
Ha! Just what it says on the tin! Because there’s nothing like it in London … a horned-up tribute to our Leather/Levi Bros across the pond – a one-off chance for London guys to strut and show off their sexy leather Western gear. I’ll be polishing up my boots, chaps and leather Stetson!
Then, while Fetish Week London is in full swing, you’re hosting Mastery’s Ultimate Weekend; three hard play events on the 16th, 17th and 18th of July! Tell us more Mr Hunter…
Gladly! I wanted to add Mastery’s own unique leather/rubber vibe – and respect – to the phenomenal events that are planned over that week. So, we make an early start with a smokin’ hot Cigar Night for everyone who’s into cigars and sex on the Thursday, then a sleazy, fetish-filled Cruise Night on the Friday, culminating in a Classic Mastery for all our hard-playing men and their bois on the Saturday… Hopefully something for everyone in that programme!
You took Mastery to Amsterdam’s 2014 Leather Pride… Any plans to take the event further afield?
F**k yeah! I’m in discussions with some great leather clubs in the USA and Europe, all of whom are excited to welcome what Mastery stands for. (I’m also, of course, happy to hear from any others.) Amsterdam was wall-to-wall leather muscle smoky testosterone until the early hours…
Any other plans for Brew Hunter and Mastery? Running for London’s Mayor perhaps?
Time allowing? Good idea! I think an Independent Leather Mayor for London, brandishing his whip, would get shitloads done for the capital really quick, and address some important horny issues. Seriously, I’m buzzed with how far we’ve come in only a year – and I’m working on lots more ideas, including a series of ‘Mastery Classes’ – demo/workshops of Flogging/Smoke Play/Old Guard/Bondage/ManK9, etc. The success and feedback from the guys is what’s firing my imagination and plans for future events.
