There’s so much more to the historic city of Bath than stunning architecture and iconic attractions. The BathHouse, situated in the centre of the city, is the perfect place to relax and unwind after a day’s sightseeing and shopping.
QXMEN took time out to chat to Reese from The BathHouse…
QXMEN: When did the BathHouse open?
Reese: The sauna has been here for around 7 years now. The name was changed from The Suite to The BathHouse in November 2010 when the previous owner sold it and I took the role of running the venue for the new owner.
As Bath has one of the UK’s leading universities, do you get a lot of students visiting The BathHouse?
We’ve always had a good amount of students visiting the sauna but since I introduced a student entry price of £6 a day, we have had a lot more coming in and spending a lot longer in here. Some have even become good friends of mine and others were looking for part time work and ended up being behind the bar as well as in front of it.
What facilities does The BathHouse have?
The BathHouse has a heated swimming pool, super-size sauna, steam room, sling room, cross with Velcro restraints, triple glory hole, double and single private rooms, dark room, play room with padded platform area and mirror surrounds, chill out lounge with Sky TV, fully licensed bar, massage room and an Internet area.
How much is a massage?
We have 3 fully qualified masseurs working here now, our massage prices start at £15 for a head/neck & shoulder massage, then there is the 30 minute massage for £20 and an hour massage for £35. We ask customers to book in advance to make sure someone is here to see them when they arrive; they also pay £10 instead of the £13. Students still pay the £6 if booking a massage. It’s becoming very popular now.
The first Wednesday of each month is Dress Up Day. What kind of things do guys wear?
I guess the main dressers are transvestites but we also get guys in hipsters, uniforms, leather… You name it and you might just see it in here!
Is the Bears Day on the first Saturday of each month popular?
Yes, we’ve had the occasional one where it’s quieter than normal but we’ve been advertising it a lot more over the last 3 months and we’re getting more guys coming to each one. The amount of cubs have also increased which keeps everyone happy.
Which night (or day) of the week would you say is the busiest?
The Sunday Session is probably our busiest day. We drop the price to £10 entry between 12 and 3pm and then add a large buffet just after 3pm.
Tell us about the BathHouse Loyalty card.
We’ve recently introduced a loyalty card which gives you one free entry after 4 visits… Great deal, huh!
We hear that there are some changes and improvements planned at The BathHouse… Tell us more?
Well, we are currently having the toilets retiled, the massage room is now finished and open for business. Our next project is a fetish room with a new leather sling, a really cool looking cross with restraints, and a few other bits to keep our customers happy. Other plans for the near future include making a private sling room, extending the pool and adding a 10-15 man hot tub. And if possible we plan on doubling the size of the steam room and having new tiles and seating in there.
Opening times: Monday: Noon to 11pm Tuesday: Noon to 11pm Wednesday: Noon to 11pm, Thursday: Noon to 11pm Friday: Noon to 9pm, Saturday: Noon to 9pm, The Sunday Session: Noon to 11pm. The BathHouse is open every bank holiday!
