The Eagle has landed in Cardiff and has added a new dimension to the city’s gay scene…
Theme weekends such as Boot Camp, Construction and Sports Kit have helped sort out the men from the boys in this new basement venue. Ideally located in Charles Street, the heart of the capital’s original gay quarter, Eagle can be found next door to Wales’s oldest gay venue, Club X, and is opposite another new gay bar Fusion and gay sauna, The Locker Room.
New boss Haydn Price, who set up and ran the national gay magazine HOT for six years, before opening Eagle at the end of the summer, said the bar was launched to add a much needed new aspect to the city’s gay scene. “Cardiff is a modern,
growing diverse capital city and with it you have to cater for customers’ varying needs. You’ll not find hen parties, Christmas shoppers or diners here. In fact, many customers describe Eagle as the only true gay bar in Cardiff. It has a modern, colour-changing decor where the emphasis is on meeting new guys or friends… A whole series of activities and events is planned for the coming months, the likes of which you don’t tend to see in other gay venues in the city, so we are quite excited about the future and the difference it will bring to Cardiff.”
